The Google Ad Grants program provides eligible nonprofits, including churches, with $10,000 per month in free Google Ads credit to promote their mission and connect with their communities through targeted search ads.
Churches with valid 501c3 status in their country, an active website, and alignment with Google’s guidelines are typically eligible for the program.
While the program from Google is certainly generous, the Ad Grant has some limitations. Ads are text-based only (no images or videos), and they appear on Google Search results pages below paid advertisers. There’s also a $2 maximum cost-per-click (CPC) bid limit, although there are strategies to maximize results within this limit. And finally, an organization must maintain at least a 5% clickthrough rate on the ads month to month. If a church’s account falls below this 5% CTR threshold for two consecutive months, their Ad Grant account may be suspended.
The unused portion of the monthly grant does not roll over, so it’s important to have well-structured campaigns that consistently utilize the budget as effectively as possible. It is not uncommon for a church to not use the complete $10,000 on a monthly basis, but Digital Outreach is here to help you maximize use.
